LSU freshman running back JT Lindsey surrendered to LSU campus police on Friday, after an arrest warrant was issued charging him with two felony counts of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.
Authorities say Lindsey allowed 17-year-old Shemell Jacobs and 18-year-old Keldrick Jordan, both wanted in connection with a May fatal shooting in Alexandria, Louisiana, to stay in his dorm at Nicholson Gateway. The fugitives were arrested by U.S. Marshals on Aug. 4 in Lindsey’s dorm, where multiple firearms — including AR‑15 rifles, a Draco, and a Glock — were also discovered.
Lindsey’s attorney, Kris Perret, told WBRZ his client did not know the two were fugitives and is fully innocent. Perret said Lindsey was at football camp during their stay and had no involvement in their criminal activity.
Lindsey “is adamant that he is innocent of any alleged criminal misconduct and any allegations of wrongdoing against him,” Perret told the outlet, adding that his client was “unaware that the individuals arrested had committed any crimes, had been accused of any crimes, or were wanted by police for questioning when he allowed them to stay at his apartment.”
However, the arrest warrant references an associate of Lindsey who claims he was aware the suspects were wanted, suggesting he may have “knowingly harbored” them.
LSU has since suspended Lindsey from football activities, and he was released on $5,000 bond.
Lindsey entered LSU as a top-tier recruit — ranked No. 4 in Louisiana and No. 7 among running backs nationwide by 247Sports. His legal situation now raises serious questions about his future with the Tigers.
