San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones reportedly discovered a body floating in the water from his Marina del Rey hotel balcony just hours before leading his team to a victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Jones saw what appeared to be a dead body on the morning of the game and alerted teammates. Maintenance staff later pulled the body from the water near the hotel. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed receiving a call and said a coroner’s van responded.

The deceased’s identity, cause of death, and whether foul play was involved remain under investigation. No public determination has yet been made.

Despite the unsettling discovery, Jones went on to deliver a standout performance Thursday night, helping San Francisco secure a win.

Meanwhile, former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez remains hospitalized following a violent altercation in Indianapolis that left him with multiple stab wounds. Sanchez, who had traveled to cover the Colts-Raiders matchup, now faces three misdemeanor counts and one felony charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury.

“This incident should never have happened,” Marion County prosecutor Ryan Mears said Monday. “What began as a disagreement between a 38-year-old former professional athlete and a 69-year-old man should not have escalated into violence or left anyone seriously injured.”
