A.J. McCarron, the Crimson Tide legend who took Alabama to back-to-back national titles, is running for lieutenant governor — and he’s coming out swinging for conservative values.
In a Thursday video, the ex-NFL quarterback invoked Charlie Kirk, whose assassination rocked the movement, saying it inspired him to fight back.
“Alabama’s conservative and cultural values are under attack,” McCarron said. “That’s why Charlie Kirk’s assassination hit us so hard.”
Running as a Trump-aligned Republican outsider, McCarron said it’s time to “send the Montgomery insiders packing.” His slogan? “A.J. for L.G.”
He’ll face Wes Allen, Dean Odle, and Rick Pate in next year’s GOP primary — already shaping up as one of Alabama’s biggest political showdowns.
NFL Uproar
While McCarron jumps into politics, the NFL is catching major heat for picking Bad Bunny as its Super Bowl halftime performer.
Conservative fans slammed the move, calling it another “woke” stunt by the league after the Puerto Rican rapper’s past anti-Trump comments.
Commissioner Roger Goodell brushed off the outrage: “It’s carefully thought through … We can’t please everyone.”
President Trump wasn’t impressed: “I don’t know who he is. It’s ridiculous,” the commander in chief said.
Now, a petition to replace Bad Bunny with country icon George Strait is exploding online, racking up tens of thousands of signatures in just days.

Amen! I guess the idea is to appeal to people who don’t already watch pro football, ie spanish speaking, rap loving kids and teens. Time for real American music to return. Sung by real American voices (no autotune), with real American values. Which do not include hate. Maybe Lenny Kravitz would be another good choice. Or Dolly Parton. Or young bluesman Kingfish Ingram. Or the great Smokey Robinson.
The NFL Commish should have learned from Bud Light – “You go WOKE – You go BROKE!” The NFL Commish that continues to go with woke “Bad Bunny” is a slap in the face of the American fans that stand for the right to choose whom we will and whom we will NOT support!
